KAILUA-KONA — To all the Best of West Hawaii business winners, the newspaper is proud of you.
But we also want to warn you.
Unfortunately, not all businesses are as upstanding as the 120 winners and 240 finalists in this year’s Best of West Hawaii edition that published Sept. 29.
That’s Great News, based out on the East Coast according to people who answer phone calls there, is soliciting our winners and offering them plaques of the Best of West Hawaii cover design and their winning certificates for a cost. The solicitation comes by way of phone calls and emails.
The problem is, That’s Great News doesn’t have West Hawaii Today’s permission to profit of our work. West Hawaii Today and our parent company, Oahu Publication’s Inc., has reached out to them and asked them to stop. We haven’t heard back.
Winners, congratulations again. But should you be contacted by That’s Great News offering to memorialize your recognition for a price, know that WHT isn’t affiliated with, nor does it condone, that operation’s model.
